Hi Everyone,
My best buddy bird, Sharon has a swollen left eye this afternoon.
She is a Whiting True Blue, turned 2 years in March, weight is normal.
Her eye is swollen, I noticed this morning. It wasn't there yesterday. I saw her rub it on her shoulder once like to itch it. She can open it all the way, but rests with it partially closed. It seems unevenly red, and unevenly swollen. One of the pics I'm sending shows that the top of her head is swollen on the same side. No other birds in the flock are showing any similar symptoms. In another pic it appears to be a black line in the corner of her eye like dried blood maybe?
She is one of my favorites and gets away with alot, so this could be anything from a peck, (I don't think so, because this happened too fast, the swelling, I mean). I'm sort of thinking a bee sting, or some other kind of bite.
Her poop is healthy and normal.
I dripped some Bausch and Lomb eye wash in her eye to rinse it, and gave her a half of a 25mg Benadryl. Which she gobbled up unknowingly in a piece of scrambled egg. She still has a healthy appetite and is drinking with no issues.

It is clear she's uncomfortable though. Is there anything else I should do? And should I keep her isolated (bring her in tonight) until it resolves, or gives me more symptoms?
(Edited to show the "in focus pic"
Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you brought in any new birds lately? Does she seem to have any mucus inside her beak, or is she swallowing a lot? Hard to see, but are there any bubbles in the corner of her eye? She could have suffered a sting or bump, but this is also an area of the face that can be swollen due to a sinus infection and conjunctivitis. That can be a sign of mycoplasma or MG. Has she been the victim of bullying or pecking lately? If I could get some Tylosin, I would treat her with 1 tsp of the powder in 1 gallon of water for 5 days. Tiagard or Denagard would also treat MG symptoms. You can apply some Terramycin eye ointment or plain Neosporin into the eye twice a day.

Thank you for your reply. No I have not introduced any new birds, however there are a lot of wild birds that always around the run and yard near them.

I don't see any mucus anywhere, and as far as bubbles, I don't think so, her eye is watery though. Bullying and pecking, not so much. She's a free spirit and adventures where the other chickens won't go. She goes to the garden with me (on her own) so really she isn't with the flock as much as all the others. But it's a possibility when she's not around me...

Am I supposed to isolate her? Is it contagious? I will get the Tylosin, but if I don't have to isolate her, how do I ensure she gets the meds? Are the other chickens safe to drink the medicated water?

Thanks again for the information in advance

Can you flush and clean the eye out with saline really well? Hard to tell, but it looks like she may have some debris in the eye, gently remove any material that you see.

Once you've cleaned out the eye, put the ointment in to the eye. Do this a couple of times a day.

Tylosin as suggested may be helpful. When giving the Tylosin, you would want to separate her out so she's the only one drinking the medicated water.

Oh, I see it. Thank you! I will get on that. Makes my own eye water seeing that. Thank you for answering.
Yeah, look it over really well, see if there's something stuck in the eye(?)
She does have a lot of swelling though, so I'd still put the ointment in the eye if possible, even if you find that debris is what's causing the irritation.
