swollen wattle hen

What is your location in the world? How is the swelling today? The generic name for Benadryl is diphenhydramine. It usually comes in 25 mg tablets, and I would use 1/2 tablet for a 5 pound chicken. Tylosin or Tylan is an antibiotic for treatment of MG (mycoplasma.) I think that others have used the 10% enrofloxacin as well. Dosage for that would be 0.25 ml twice a day for 5 days. It is one of the best antibiotics for gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Doxycycline and oxytetracycline are others use. Coryza tends to be beater treated with sulfa antibiotics.

I don't think they will see her, It's a vet for dogs and cats, but they may know about bee or wasp sting in dogs so I'll ask if they know some case in birds or about the other medicines, I don't know if they will give me the information tough .
For now she is very active, it was loud in the morning but didn't eat her food, she went directly to foraging, she ate a bit of papaya and sesame seeds, I'm not sure but I think the right wattle has deflated a little bit :fl
I’m glad to hear that she is doing a little better. 🙂 She’s active and foraging… good signs. And, you think it looks a little less swollen. I can only guess, but it does sound like she maybe really did get stung. (You mentioned there were wasps and bees) Keep us updated.

That's really good!

One thing you might see is if she prefers soft foods right now - it sounds like she might be doing that since you said she skipped her regular food. Birds that have a sore mouth/throat for any reason sometimes reject hard, dry foods like pellets/crumbles. Feed mash is worth trying but I've had a few birds that even rejected mash and just ate fruit for a few days while they were healing (I gave grapes, other berries, banana, etc.). Unswetened & unflavored oatmeal cooked to the point of being really mushy is another feel-better snack I give to chickens having difficulty with regular feed. Sometimes I mix in a bit of canned tuna into the oatmeal to give them a protein boost.
Yeah, I think she was looking for something to eat according at how she was feeling her mouth/throat, because didn't want scrambled eggs neither, she was eating something while foraging but I think it was so tiny I couldn't see it, but in the afternoon her crop was just as big as usually, and she laid an egg in the morning too.
Is there an avian vet you could call even if too far to visit directly? If so, they might be able to answer some of the medication questions.
I've heard in the radio some vet shop or something like that that sell food and meds for birds too and they give advice according to the ad, however it sounds more like for farm chickens but I 'll give it a try next week.
Right now the pullet is very active and looks like nothing happened, their wattles are still a bit swollen but she acts like it's not bothering it, well... just keep ignoring most of the time her food, I think she prefer whatever she was eating yesterday. :idunno

I'm from Bolivia, the good news is her swelling is dissapearing. :celebrate I think it was a stung and gladly not so venomous(?)
The vet gave me prednisone 20mg in pills for my dog (13kg) every 12hr just twice (I buyed just in case for emergency) and then I ask how about a 500g chicken? and she tell me half of the pill just once, however she is not specialized in birds and can't give advice in chickens illness or meds, she did not have meds specifically for chickens neither, the antibiotics she had at the moment were: Tetracycline, doxycycline, oxytetracycline and enrofloxacine (as long as I can remember), she was restocking inventory, she could give me a list for chickens med of the lab she makes her orders and if there is something I want it I could tell her to get it for me, however the website of the lab were and is inaccessible, so I won't know without any information, and I had to tell her yesterday.
However, I heard about a vet and if as long I understood they give advice about chicken farms as well so I'll go there next week asking for advice about coriza or another common illness, I hope they can tell me because sometimes commercials or vets here only give information if you are their frequent customer or after you buy the product.

Yes, her wattles are almost normal right now and she is eating most of her food I'll upload a picture.
:wee

Yay! That’s wonderful news. 😊 What’s her name? It’s good to know that she’s feeling like a happy hen again.
her name is Diverti, now she is making sounds like she wants to lay an egg, this will be her 6th egg, she doesn't like cameras so this is the best picture I've taken from her.
