Hi! I'm Allie and I'm addicted to chickens. My husband calls me the chicken whisperer.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my roo and first 5 hens at the end of 2016. They were adults from an existing flock someone wanted to "thin" out. I've added 6 since.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 12.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have 5 australorps, 3 ameracaunas, 3 california greys, and 1 red star.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I write a blog about traveling with kids, paint, make pottery, raise two little humans, have a garden, cook, read, and do my best to stay sane. That's where the chickens come in.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm married to a guy who lovingly tolerates my chicken habit and we have two small kids together. Our other pets include a goldendoodle (great chicken dog - she's so calm and quiet), an Arabian Mau cat we brought back from Dubai, a 3-legged-no-tailed cat we adopted locally, and two fish named Walt and Jesse. My current occupation is keeping the kids, pets and husband alive but I used to be an accountant.
