I have a hen that is around 3years old. I took her in from a rescue after she was already laying around 1 yrs old. Healthy since then.
She is getting over a respiratory infection, possibly mycoplasma. She was treated with Tylan injections few weeks ago.
After meds and a week of TLC she got better, gained weight, went back out with flock.
But then this week took a turn for the worse with some more respiratory symptoms - gurgling, sneezing.
Vet decided on another round of Tylan. She is getting her second dose tonight.
Last night she seemed unwell but was still acting okay, eating and drinking and walking around.
This morning she stopped eating and is excessively drinking. (I am assuming it has something to do with her organs shutting down).
She became very lethargic. I decided to check her vent, as she seemed to go down so quickly and was lifting one leg up.
During the vent exam, some thick white stuff came out that looked like half-cooked scrambled egg.
I decided to take her into the vet as I initially thought egg bound or broken egg.
Vet says that was Lash Egg. He also drew fluid out of her abdomen, which is no-good.
He says she has Salpingitis and Perionitis. Said maybe both. And that it is fatal.
He said we could cull/euthanize or he could send her home with the anti-inflammatory and antibiotics.
I opted to bring her home, see if she will pass here. She hasn't seemed that sick but for the last few hours.

She now is basically just standing in one spot above her mug (it's a coffee mug) of water. She just keeps drinking.
She is crated and in our guest room, warm, with a humidifier going. Has access to food, although not interested.
I am worried she is going to drown in the mug of water, as she holds her head over it and is dozing/out of it, then wakes up, drinks, then back to dozing.
Should I remove it from the crate? I realize this might be a dumb question if she will pass away anyway. However, I am just trying to make her as comfortable as possible. Should I leave the water overnight?
If you made it through this wordy post, thank you! Noella Nugget is the sweetest Hen. I feel we've done out best but any insight/

advice is welcome.

She will take a "sip" every few minutes when I am in the room with her. This started this afternoon but has worsened since about 5pm EST here (it's now 8pm). The mug of water has gotten down to half-full twice from 5-8. I just don't want to her fall over into it overnight but I wonder if it's bringing her relief? Hard to know - and not sure anyone else will - it's nice to reach out though! Thanks for the reply.

She wants to drink for a reason, I would not take her water away.
Yes, I wonder if it is providing relief. Just scared she will fall down into it, with the lethargy. But I suppose it's the least of my worries. Just don't want her to drown. Thank you for the reply!

Well it’s good that she is still drinking. I did some quick reading and she’s probably drinking like this because of her infections. I would let her be, keep an eye on her in case she does doze off in the mug.
