Crowing
After the marvelous suggestion of using an old rabbit hutch I discovered it in need of several structural repairs including blocking off the nesting box with something sturdy but temporary as I'd love another bun someday.
By the time I finished up Monday night she seemed better and I'm thinking " okay, FINALLY, the spell has broken. "
Goes up to roost that night but sleeps under her two flockmates on the ground; not a total surprise given their alpha is kind of going at her after the crazy behavior and separation that followed.
Then yesterday she's just a walking puff, I cool water bathed her and she calmed and focused on grooming. She laid an egg that afternoon and still I thought, "okay, residual hormones but progress with the laying."
At bedtime I can't find her anywhere. She's snuck into a nesting box and is glued to the inside corner. It's POURING rain and well after dark, there's no fresh food or water in the bunny hutch so I get up at five AM, ready the hutch and in she goes. She's just sitting in there, inflated like a beach ball
So until she deflates and quits clucking at her flockmates like a time bomb in the hutch she'll reside. Fortunately, it's cooler here today and raining so that should help some. All this and rushing to finish the walk in as quickly as we can because two of my pullets are well into vocal changes and I could have worn my Ameraucana started singing an egg song yesterday
