Tame-Wild Emu Foraging

Five years to get the first photo up. Ten years for video. This footage is unique -- though very ordinary. Got v. low upload speed here. Just getting my bearings.

The bit of fence is just random. And okay, this bird is tame-wild. Otherwise, this is a peep into the life of a wild emu. Wild birds graze and forage for hours a day. They move over large areas of known territory, to score what is Yummy for Emus:

plums, apricots, figs -- my cherry tomatoes, if they get a chance -- scotch thistles, lilly pillies; flowers, berries; seeds, grass, grass seeds.

See Limpychick? See the grape vine? He has readily breasted his way into the thicket, and is jumping up to tax half-grown grapes.

question wild emu seem to ve super violent, i have heard stuff about them ripping open dogs. The domestic ones we have arent aggressive at all. Were they bred to be more docile?

'i have heard stuff about them ripping open dogs'

Hi, animals 1981. If you diligently search on Youtube, you see that folks post preposterous claims about emus: 'Emoo held me at gunpoint, forced me to drain my ATM account!!' Turns out that Emoo stole a couple of Doritos through the window of their car at the Safari Park.

We've wondered about the dog-vs.-emoo thing (and the dog-vs.-kangaroo thing).

I found a clip of a wild emu chasing a guy on a bicycle. But have never found any solid info about attacks on people or other animals.

Note: ostriches and cassowaries really do have a reputation for bein' ornery.
