Is this a tapeworm? It was breaking when I tried to pull it. Got it with a tweezer. My chicken has been sick for a couple weeks or so she’s been having trouble with eggs breaking. I’m pretty sure she got poison from the egg. And then I got this out of her tonight She is a little over a year old. I have 3 chickens and I never wormed them. She has not laid an egg for awhile and the last one was a latch egg I had her isolated but put her back 2 nights ago.

No not tapeworm. That looks like lash egg material, from salpingitis in the hen. That is an inflammation of the oviduct. Can you cut it open and take another picture? Read my post 5 on this thread that also includes a picture in post 1:

It doesn’t really have anything it. I have cut them open before and know what they look like. I have lost several chickens in the past with this. My favorite girl lived about a year after without laying but I didn’t care. She was my baby.

It looks like a few I have seen pictures of. They can all look a bit different.
That’s what I think for sure now. Could this have happened because an egg broke inside her?All of a sudden she started laying some soft eggs and then one broken inside of her. I found the shell later. And then one broken inside her a couple weeks ago and I never found the shell.

It can be caused when bacteria or a virus in the oviduct climb back up the egg tract. Some people will treat it with antibiotics amoxicillin (sold online as Aqua Zole) or with enrofloxacin.
Thank you so much for your help again !
