Hi everyone,
I am very new to all this, but thanks very much for your welcome.
I have recently successfully hatched four Buff Orpingtons, who are really cute, but I have fallen in love with Silkies.
This morning I set 9 silkie eggs in my mini incubator, and cant wait for the next 21 days to pass by.
The eggs came from a multi coloured group of Silkies, wit a magnificent white Cockerel, so I don't have a clue what colour babies I will get. My interest is in keeping them as Pets, so I will be happy with whatever.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Congrats on the great hatch!! And good luck with the Silkie eggs too! Hatching is such a rewarding experience. Nothing more egg-citing than watching an egg turn into a tiny life.

Make yourself at home here and if you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask around the forums.

Welcome to our flock!

Welcome to BYC. Silkies are a very popular breed, though in the States we only have bantams. If you are lucky enough to hatch some girls, they could be your natural incubators. Silkies generally are a very broody group. People sometimes keep them just for that reason. You might want to check out the' Silkie Thread,' just put that in the search box and it should pop up.

My friend has 3 silkies and 2 seramas, as housepets. She is a devout silkie lover.
