So, after getting quotes for around $150 for my return...I've decided to do it myself. The turbo tax federal free edition looks easy enough, BUT, I don't want to have to pay $30 for each state I have to do a return in.

Is there another program that is free all the way around? I'd prefer to e-file.

Most of the online programs charge for doing state returns. I use Turbo Tax but I also claim my Farm and it gets involved.
You could use Turbo Tax for the Federal and probably download the State forms online and just mail them in and wait a little longer.
I have never done that but I think it would be an option. It also depends on what type of return you are doing, the free one from Turbo Tax is the 1040 EZ, everything else is not free.

I pay $75.00 for the TT program for mine, but e-filing is worth it.

Well, I went with H&R block's online service. Federal was free, OK says I have to file through the mail. AR says I have steps to do after...apparently I have to actually sign a piece of paper and send it in for AR to accept it electronically? Makes no sense to me...

Anyway, after it was all said and done, it was $20 total for the electronic filing for AR and OK combined.

I think you have the option to print it out the state returns and mail it in to avoid the efiling charge.
