My husband wanted Japanese bantams and we were out of room in the back for coops so I knew I had to build something nice looking if it was going to be visible to the neighbors. I found the windows in a dumpster and got the inspiration for the tea house. A friend gave me all the bamboo so I had enough to experiment with. I still have some left and will be adding more accents as I have time.
Pretty much I made it up as I went along after sketching out othe initial idea on a notepad.
The windows are decorated with the window cling stuff you can buy at almost any large store. Rice paper looking for the front and bamboo motif for the sides.
The flower beds around the outside will by done in a very Japanese style. Right now there are several Japanese maples, dwarf bamboo, mini rhodies, camellias, several small sculptural trees and other low growing shrubs.
It will be intersting to see it next fall after a summer of growth and with birds in it.
