I know a pic would help...and I'll get one...but I was reading in the April/May BY Poultry about Delawares and how they came about from BR roos x RIR hens....and how if you cross a Del x a RIR they still come out Dels. Anywho...I have 2 birds...1 my MIL has and 1 I have that we've all thought were pretty birds (mine is a roo, I dunno what her's is) and they are just that...a BR roo x a RIR hen. They look VERY much like a Delaware....soo if I took my boy to a RIR hen or Del hen would I be breeding 'pure' Dels?
I was just going to breed him to my EEs b/c I thought he was a mutt LOL

I just ran across this. Sorry no one got back to you, but I'll try to clarify, even though the post is a bit stale. A Delaware crossed with a RIR is not a purebred, although it may look like a Delaware. Delawares have been a stand-alone breed since 1952. If you cross them with anything else, it's just that, a cross.
