Teenage Ducks

My grandson and I were sitting out in the side yard which is fenced in for menagerie of pets. I recently picked up three teenage ducks part muscovey and part swedish. Ducks are new to be me and mainly got them for fly control, they are not friendly because the lady we picked them up from was ill and payed no attention to them. As my grandson and I are talking the sun sun is slowly going behind the mountains and all of a sudden one of the ducks comes running with a little brown bird in her mouth. We sat there amazed as she shook the feathers off and then proceeded to eat it. I have learned something new about these ducks everyday. Is this normal for ducks to eat small birds also?

They are omnivores. If it doesn't outrun them, then it's food.

I had a duck who ate a friend's cockroach (left over from feeding a lizard). The cockroach was as big as the duck's head.

Frogs and earthworms are yummies too!!!!
