I saw a photo on the contest thread the other day of a Golden Sebright roo. Now I am very interested in getting some for my flock.

I know they are a smaller bird, how about egg production, hardiness, ect.?

Feel free to post pictures of your Sebrights here too. I would love to see more.

Thanks

I sure don't know much. We have 2 golden sebright chicks. They will be 4 weeks old in a few days. Our local feed store had them, I saw their mature picture, and decided to get them because I also thought they were pretty.

After the fact I read on another site somewhere they are not a beginner's bird. It didn't say why.

At the same time we got these two chicks, we also got two barred rock chicks. Barred rocks are known as very friendly birds. There is definitely a difference between the BR's and the sebrights. The sebrights are maturing much more quickly. Their feathers came in fast and they were interested in being out and about and exploring. One of them is also a bit aggressive. We've been referring to her as a brat.

We have another group of chicks that will be two weeks old in a few days. We recently introduced the two groups - since they will be living together - we weren't sure if this was a good idea or not, being newbies, but it worked OK. Except for the one brat sebright - she will peck at some of the younger babies - they run now when they see her coming.

Among the ten chicks we have, if I had to choose two to give away, it would be the sebrights. I just haven't bonded with them the way I have the others. That's my opinion today. Come tomorrow it might be totally different...

Hello!! I *think* these are sebrights, at least thats what the very young man told me. LOL! I absolutly adore these little ladies. Of course I've only had them for 1 day. They are very sweet and friendly. My boys are 10 and 5 and they walk up to them and pick them up. I don't know how old they are, but they are laying. I got an egg on the way home and 1 this morning. So I'm not sure if it's one or both. The eggs were small-med in size. Kind of an off white color. They also have a rose comb, which we thought was really cool! They coloring on them caught my attention. I think they are beautiful! Over all these seem very friendly and loving and they get along with my others. They were roosting right up between my easter eggers this evening. The eggers didn't seem to mind. Oh, my boys named them Connie and Bonnie!!

I had a Sebright rooster and he was very cool. Got a little cocky as he got older. I would love to have kept him if I had more space. I say get some.

I hear seabright roo's are generally very aggressive. My friend had one that she played with every day and was so super sweet until he got to 3 months old and became the DEVIL.

I breed Silver Sebrights.

My girls lay an egg every day. They lay bantam sized eggs. About 2 eggs make up a regular sized egg. The roosters can have a mean streak once in a while, but mine are quite good. They do like to crow. They are about the size of a small pigeon. In the winter we get down to the teens, and my sebrights do very good.
