Tell me about your manufactured/modular home. Pros and cons

I would say that modular homes are better built these days. Yes, stick built houses are better looking but when you calculate the electricity and heating bills, there really is a noticeable difference. Also, sometimes, with stick built homes, contractors or architects sometimes make weird design choices like putting a bedroom next to a kitchen to save space or other little things you don't really notice until you've lived in it for a couple of months.

I realize that modular homes or system built home (not HUD home/trailers and not mobile homes) are not a new concept. I have researched these and am still on the fence about them. Their system seems very sound and logical in building in sections, much like SIPS, in a factory and them assembling all the pieces at the home site.

i dont know, i lived in a modular all growing up and now that i am older and live in an older home i am so much happier. Sure its cold, and it creaks and moans and needs to be worked on alot, but i lOVe it so much.

its got more character. every house in this neighborhood is different, whereas all the houses growing up were the exact same just flip flopped.

just my opinion

id never live in those homes ever again. B-O-R-I-N-G
