I want to hear current lock down stories that happend, happy ones, sad ones, suprising ones, sucky ones.. anything that happend not to long ago.... Like nothing less then a month ago.... I jst want to here stories to share

Thanks

I had 2 doz on lockdown and was watching them hatch, when I got up and turned to walk away my foot got caught on the cord and flipped the whole thing upside down.I lost 10 chicks that where pipping,we had to help all them hatch since the bator had to be opened for a long time to get everything back in order....

I had a neurotic second hatching last month with lockdown humidities difficult to keep up, requiring the adding of more and more water, then many stuck chicks that had to be helped out after many hours struggling to zip. Very frustrating. I felt hatching in the cartons was detrimental as my chicks would be stuck in the carton and couldn't get out, would just lay there cheeping for hours. I was nervous about opening the incubator as you hear over and over that's the death of many a chick, but couldn't stand having a baby already out not able to get going. It was so nerve wracking. I lost many chicks due to shrink wrapping despite humidity in the 60's to 80's.

I now have 17 eggs in lockdown since Wed the 5th, 2 hatched overnight last night, and I've set the eggs on their sides on a dish cloth over the wire bottom, totally filled all the channels, plus added a soaking wet sponge. I've got humidity at 80% + and the 2 babes that hatched last night left behind nice, clean, dry shells. I have not opened the incubator at all since lockdown that afternoon. I did add water this morning via the opening up top and a turkey baster, just let it run in and dampen the cloth and sponge. I'm in Texas and we are piping hot here already, a/c is on and inside humidity is low so it takes a lot to keep the humidity up. I've got fingers crossed! Please, no more shrink wrapped babies!!!!! It's so heart breaking to get so far, then have them die in the shell with yolks absorbed and some even had pipped the membrane but never made it to the shell.....

How's that?

Good luck to you!
