I was wondering if you could put maybe, not zip ties. But something similar on the legs of baby ducks in order to tell them apart? Or would that be too risky?

Welcome to BYC! I’m not sure if that would be completely safe for the ducks if the zip ties were to get caught on something or scratch one of them but then again I’m very cautious with my duckies lol. I remember when we first got our welshies they were nearly identical and we could only tell them apart by their tails, junipers was slightly darker than marzipans, so I suggest looking for slight differences. Or you could always make small bandannas to tie loosely around their necks as the material would be less harsh than a zip tie, or even a loose colored rubber band or hair tie around one of their feet. Hope this helped a bit :)

Maybe not a loose bandana as it could get caught on something easily. They have leg bands made for poultry. I would look into those. However, unless you have tons of ducks - just getting to know your ducks and picking out certain features helps to identify them.
What kind of ducks do you have @LaineyMehrer?

I purchased some Velcro bands to tell the difference between my ducklings, as suggested on another post I saw here.

Since they're velcro, if they get caught on anything they will just pop right off.

Right now my babies are slightly different in size, but I believe they will grow to be the same size quickly.

I’ll be getting 10 Pekin ducklings hopefully sometime this week :)
