Telling silkies apart

Hello! I’d like to get a couple of silkies and I have a hard time to see if they’re male or female. Is it a difficult breed to know for sure or is it just me? Because I’d like to have 2 females without doubt, so when I order them I wouldn’t want the seller to make a mistake. Is it safer if I ask the seller to get them a bit older than usual to make sure they’re both females, or is there still risk? If it’s a hit or miss then maybe I shouldn’t get silkies, but if it’s just me that I’m not used to see them then there’s no problem.

If you really want to be 100% certain than you should get DNA sexed pullets.

Another option is to wait until they are old enough to tell the difference. Around 4 months of age minimum. While some boys present themselves earlier, others are late bloomers.

Ah that would be perfect. I’ll ask the seller if they sell them too. I know people usually prefer to get them very young, I can’t blame them, they’re so cute! But I prefer to make sure they’re all girls.
