I would like to know what type of thermometer everyone thinks is more accurate, a digital or a glass one. Right now I have both in the bator, but I am curious, they are within a degree of each other at the same height in a forced air unit.

on my recent homebuilt bator I use a thermometer that is pretty accurate , it is calibrated with a standerd connected to the national institute of standards I do HVAC/R work what surprised me was how accurate the $8 walmart thermometrs/hygrometers are they are just kina slow to respond. as quickly as my light bulbs turn off my good thermometer responds instanly showing the temp swings since I made sheild for the light bulbs those swings are not as drastic . The walmart thermometers are a bit slower to show the change in temps.

I just posted this on another thread about thermometers, but this is what I have found over the last couple of years.

I have a digital indoor/outdoor one and keep the little wireless outdoor receiver right in the bator and keep the indoor portion and put it where it is convenient. This thermometer also measures humidity so I can keep track of the humidity both in the incubator and in our house. It will tell you the minimum and maximum temperatures for each day so you know if you had any temperature spikes or power outages. It has really cut down on the temperature stress level that I experience with every batch because I know exactly what is happening each day.

Either type can be accurate or inaccurate.I have found the dial type with the stem, made by GQF to be very accurate.
