i have a hovabator 1588, this is my 3rd hatch with it and i do love it, but i have noticed a couple times the temp spikes to 102. i have usually caught it pretty quick and just cracked it open and the temp will drop and then stay at 99.6.. i woke up this morning and the temp said 102, so i have no idea how long it was that high.i had just set them in for lockdown lastnight. i dont know if my temp gauge is 100% but it seems pretty good and steady usually, so i have been trusting it for the most part. how concerned should i be about this?

of course it would happen because i already have these chicks sold.

i am certainly not an expert, its my first hatch, but I do not think 102 is gong to ruin your hatch, from what others told me, it should be ok. I had a BAD spike on the first night of lockdown. I still do not know if they will hatch,

Good luck, post back what ends up happening!!!!

102 isn't that high. My last hatch ran 102 half of the time (until I got a better thermomater and relized it was high). I did end up with a couple of leg problems but since yours was only running high for a short time I think it should be fine. When I first started hatching eggs I had my incubator (small styrafome one) near a window and the temps would be all over the place. It even got as high over 112 (I think even 120) and I thought for sure they would be no good. I was suprised that about 1/2 of the eggs hatched. I think it can also depend where you live. If you live in a warmer area I think the eggs can stand hotter heats for short periods of time (not ideal though).
