I‘m on day 17 of incubating 3 Silkie eggs. Never done it before, followed instructions for a styrofoam cooler incubator with an appliance light bulb, and a thermostat that turns on a fan sitting on top of a hole in the lid. Everything was going great, candling showed movement and good air pocket. Today somehow the thermostat sensor fell out, so fan didn’t turn on for 3 hours. I don’t know how hot it actually got because I took of the lid to cool it down quickly, but it was probably over 104. Are the poor chicks probably done for?

My one friend had an incubator with 6 eggs in it hit 104 overnight and she only lost one. You may lose 1 or 2 but you'll probably still have some hatch

Just make sure it cools off and candle maybe tonight ;)

Day 22, and candling showed 2 out of three are poking into the air pocket and I hear chirping!

This has been a project for my preschool class, so even though I‘m reminding the kids that they might not hatch, I‘m really hoping for at least one! I brought them home tonight in case they hatch, since I‘m not sure how long it will take.

So exciting! Good luck on your hatch!

Well, I excitedly watched 2 of them pip and zip. One died in 2 hours, I‘m still watching the second one. It will be 2 hours for that one soon. Not sure what happened with the first. It was peeping and walking around a lot, then it stopped breathing during one of its cat naps.
