Temp variation question

Hi everyone...We just started to incubate yesterday with a still air incubator. Are temp variations normal? It is ranging from 97.5-102. Argh! Will this kill the eggs?
help!!!!!

Not Ideal but you should be fine.

it is a little giant still air styrofoam thing from tsc, I have an egg turner in there, and a hygrometer/thermometer. we put weather stripping around the edge, but the fluctuations are quite frequent.

My forced air bator has fluctuated about that much too. It didn't seem to hurt anything because it's looking like a 100% hatch. Get an eggometer or something that you can read in temp inside the egg. Thats whats important. As long as the inside temp of the egg averages out you'll be ok.

Since you started yesterday I will tell you that it takes time for the
incubator to warm up the eggs. If you go adjusting before the eggs
have time in there to warm you're going to end up all over the place.
I set mine up a day in advance to the temp I want and let it run.

Also make sure to place in a room with not as much fluctuation.
My best place for the LG's are in the basement because right now it
stays around 50 f. Another place is my closet in the back bedroom
because it is away from heating/cooling vents and stays about the
same.

Not so good places are The Kitchen, Living Room,
Bathrooms. Heat/humidity from stoves, showers,
open doors to the outside, can make them fluctuate
badly.

My still air LG's fluctuate from 100.9-102 in the basement.
My forced air LG's fluctuate from 98.5-100.1 in the basement.

Still air incubators need to be in a stable room. This explains why.

This is also why I put the foam insulating tape
around the inside edge. The LG's have a large
gap between top/bottom halves so cold air is
flowing into those crevices. This is why I could
stick a thermometer in the corner and it would be
97f and the middle 101f.

With PC fans I used smaller processor fans because the
case fans often used have too much air current
for my liking no matter where they are pointed. (for small incubators).
I want to stir the air a bit, not blow on them all day.
