I had to leave the house for about half the day yesterday on Day 1 of my Quail eggs being in the still-air incubator. I had it at 99F and 50%..I came home and it was at 102F and I quickly turned the temperature down and got it back down to 99F. I'm not sure how long it had been at 102F, but it wouldn't have been longer than a couple of hours. How bad is that?

That's no problem. Still air 'bators should be run at a higher temp anyway, 101f is recommended for the Hover-Bators.

I have a still air of another brand that I run at 101f - 102f and have chicks hatching right on day 21 as they should be.

Just make sure your measuring at the top of the eggs, if the thermometer is on the floor or sitting up to high the temps will be off in a still air.

My egg racks aren't completely full, so I have my thermometer laying next to the eggs. I took this picture before I put the eggs in, I guess I should turn it up a little bit to get it up to 101F?

I leave my still air at 99-100F and I have excellent hatches. In fact, every hatch so far has been early, and YES, my 4 thermometers are very accurate! I don't feel comfortable having the temp over 100 because if there IS a spike in temperature you may lose the babies. Think about it, would you rather have your spike go from 100 to 103 which is harmelss, or from 102 to 105 which can cause defects or even be deadly?

ETA Besides, if you read the directions they recommend 99.5F.
