We have decided to have chickens, and I wanted to know if there is any reason I can't house chickens with a donkey? Our stall side of the barn is very long and undivided-I'm thinking with a few modifcations, adding hardware cloth, a egress-chicken sized, and nesting boxes. I hoping to have a temporary coop for the chickens and still have shelter for a donkey. Is this mission impossible?

We keep our chickens with our goats. It works out great as long as the goats can't get the chickens food. They seem to really like the chickens and they will actually put their heads down to a chicken and let the chicken peck the alfalfa bits off their heads. When the goats are laying in the sun, some of the chickens will sit up on their backs and have a nap. It is actually quite hilarious. We have one goat that goes from chicken to chicken to get her head pecked at! I guess she likes how it feels, but it is very funny. I would say you should be fine.
