hello all, so i recently purchased chicks and decided to put them under a broody last night. everyone seems fine and the broody is making cooing noises leasing me to believe she’s accepted them. however, her chosen brooding location is in the coop above the ground in a nesting box. i moved her location to the other nesting box so i could block it off from the other birds using a dog crate and some cardboard but am concerned that she won’t have enough space or hear birds around her and get stressed out. it’s also quite dark in there because it’s the indoor portion of the coop. granted, i put them in last night so she shouldn’t leave for a short bit—hopefully buying me some time.. but my question is will she be okay with this contraption and continue loving her chickies if she gets stressed by a confined space temporarily (while i fix a coop for her)? thank you for your recommendations in advance!

Please post a picture.

How large is your coop? Please post pictures.

Once she accepts the grafted chicks, she doesn't need the nest any longer. She can keep them warm on the coop floor in the corner at night. Otherwise she'll take them out and about to teach them how to be grown up chickens.

Is your coop elevated? Ground level coops are easiest for mother hens and chicks to navigate.
