Hi everyone.
You may have seen my other post about the inured drake I'm trying to save. My question is is whether or not it is actually safe to use terramycin antibiotic eye ointment on ducks. I've heard mixed responses. Some recommend it, while others say it can harm ducks. The paper insert that came with it doesn't even list birds of any kind. I've seen articles saying that it is approved for chickens and roosters, but not waterfowl. I want to do everything I can to help save my duck, but i just couldn't forgive myself if I did something that made him worse. Any responses are appreciated. Thanks.

Don't use it....Better safe than sorry...Non of us are Vets so we can not say it is safe....
Is his eye still their or was it punctured and all the fluid from the eyeball come out?...It might really need a vet if the eye needs to be removed?....

His eye ball still appears to be intact, but he keeps it about halfway closed. I'm afraid that his inner eyelid may Have been torn off. It's hard to tell. I'm pretty much certain that he is blind in that eye now. Both of his eyes keep watering, but I believe that might be them trying to heal. I know my eyes water when they are hurting. I wish I could take him to the vet, but my husband, who just views our ducks as livestock, wont let me. =(

Remind your dear sweet Husband that even livestock need Vets....Its cruel to allow any animal to suffer... not much Hubby can do once you take the Bird into a Vet..
