I have a 4 month old Egyptian Fayoumi rooster. He has always been a little skittish, but is sweet and calms down when he is held. Lately though, whenever he is held he starts yelling/screaming (not crowing) and fighting to get away and acting overall pretty terrified. He lives in a tractor during the day with his flockmates and inside a rubbermaid tub at night (no coop yet :D) Has anyone else had this issue or any ideas of what to do about it?
Thanks!

Many chickens feel that being held is a near death experience, and Fayoumis didn't survive feral for generations by being complacent back about things. Enjoy him for what he is, and don't be upset if he is becoming the bird he wants to be. I think they are terrific little birds, and in general I don't handle my roosters unless necessary anyway. I understand that roos generally despise being held, but this one acts like he is being murdered. He is also being super scared when he is not being held. They have been handled from day-old chicks till now, so this doesn't make much sense. The other rooster (speckled sussex) is fine being handled. I have to handle all my chickens to transport them to and from the tractor, and it's nice when they don't act like they are dying :) I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas about calming him down. Your 'roo is beautiful btw :)
