terrorizing terriers

Jack Rusells are a very good breed of dog for what they were bred for and though I don't own any I rather like them.

But none of this excuses free-roaming dogs harassing or attacking other people's animals.

I don't have any problems with shooting a dog if I must, but over the years I've found it less stressful to provide more protection for my birds. Sometimes's it was a neighbor's dog that did the deed, sometimes a stray, sometimes a coyote, sometimes a fox, but always it was my birds. If I provide some protection and the predator still manages to get at them then I reach for the rifle.

I have issues with our neighbors because they let their herd of "ankle-biters" run our neighborhood and harasses everything that breaths. I have two medium size dogs myself bt they stay in our FENCED in yard unless they are leashed. Humans are the problem not the animals. If humans would be responsible for their dogs instead of letting them terriorize other people's animals the poor fellows wouldn't be shot/killed because they would not be on other people land in the first place. We have yard cats that roam freely and if someone killed one of them harming other animals off our land I would not have a problem with it because there is no telling what they do when we are not watching. In addition, to that comment these cats are not really our cats. they have adopted us because once again humans not being responsible and dumping the poor things out in our neighborhood. I also called our local animals control out to our neighbors for allowing these small dogs to run freely and being run over in the road because they would chase after the owners when they left in their car. The first month we moved in two of the dogs were killed due to this issue. Anyway, while I had animal control at my home I let them come into my yard and look at my chicken coop and run and told the officer that when (not if, I know it is going to happen) these dogs tear into my yard and then into my coop/run I will shoot the dogs and throw them back over the fence onto the neighbors land because they have no business letting their dogs destroy my property. The officer said I have every right to protect my land and my animals.
