Thanks for letting me join the group! I have had my girls for almost a year now. I have/had five girls. My Rhode Island Red turned out to be a roo so we had to take him back to the farm where we got him. We live in a subdivision so we have to keep the crowing/noise down. My other four girls are: an Ameraucana, a blue Cochin, a laced Cochin and a Barred Rock. Their names are: Pearl, Ethel, Gerty and Mabel. They have been fun and easy to care for.
We live in Southeast Texas (by Galveston). I have three grown sons so raising chickens finally gives me the girls I never had.
Our other hobbies are playing sports, working out and currently, watching the Astros.
I teach at the local junior college.
I found this site over a year ago when I started my research into chickens.
