Texas Shows?

I am not sure how far South you are but here are the Only ones south of Ft Worth

Bluebonnet Classic- College Station- -1-3-09
Central Texas- La Grange- First part of March 09
South Texas Fair- Beaumont- Middle of March- 09

There is also one that is starting up in New Braunfels but I haven't heard anything about when they are going to put on their show. Last year it was in June but I believe they have reconsidered that one.

For texas shows, the La Grange show is in September.. poultry manager passed away, but local club is taking over the show! They are having one in February .. it will be aba&apa approved.. then, they are also taking over the La Grange show at the fair and that will also be approved.

Dickie Dickerson is judging a poultry show in College Station, tx.. sometime in January.

By the way, the name of the group that is hosting the Comal fair show (New Braunfels,tx)and a apa/aba show in March is Fancy Feathers 4h Club.. they usually post on Pet Chickens of texas.com (pcot)

I live about 25 miles northeast of San Antonio, tx... where are you at?

Are there any bird auctions any where close to College Station any time soon?

The Show in La Grange in September is the Fayette county fair and has yet to be a sanctioned show. Your birds had to be there from Thursday till late Sunday. Yes Joe Moziak died suddenly a few months ago and Danny Hughes has taken over the show for the fair and has said he will try to make it a sanctioned show. The show this spring in La Grange will be the first weekend in March, this is what was announced at the TAEPC show yesterday in Decatur.

If Dickie Dickerson is judging a show in College Station it has nothing to do with exhibition poultry. The judges for the Bluebonnet Classic in College Station On January 3 rd 2009 are Dwayne and Melody Jonas.

I live in Blue Texas, about 45 miles Northeast of Austin

The auctions, swap meets and trades days in Texas are basically gone, thanks to laws passed a few years ago.
Having said that I do know there are some in Conroe but I do not know when, they are at the Montgomery Co fairgrounds.

Also there is one in the Georgetown area ( Florance) I think it is the 3 rd Saturday of the month

thank you bob for info on bluebonnet classic... We were talking with Danny and some others and Dickies name came up in regards to the College station show.... i misunderstood!!! I thought Dickie was doing judging.

We did attend the La Grange show this year, Fayette co. fair... because pigeon show manager was backup for Joe, did not have to have birds in until fri or Sat morning!

danny was actually doing the organizing at the la grange show.. he did a great job, considering he was asked at the last minute!

I would appreciate any info you have on the Bluebonnet classic.

thanks,

Are there any groups that have organized to fight these laws?

The commercial poultry industry with their mega-bucks to donate to campaign funds got the laws passed with out us knowing it and the only way to get them changed is to change the Texas constitution.
We have explored different avenues to see if we can even get them to relax them so that we can have exhibitors come in from out of state, but all doors have been slammed in our face.
The commercial poultry industry considers all backyard poultry people as something evil. So unless you have some extreme amounts of money and a group of lobbiest your odds of changing anything are zero.
