My wife and I have put our place up for sale so we can move back to the country. The main topic of conversation in our house is about our future chicken flock. In preparation of having chickens again we have been "lurking" here so we can get our chickens as soon as we are settled in our new home.
As a boy during the 70's in upstate N.Y., I had barred rocks that I kept in a shed that I had fixed up. With grandma's advice, I built a large run and began the learning process of keeping chickens.
In the 90's I once again had a small flock of barred rocks, hoping to share the enjoyment I got from my chickens as a child with my children.
My wife and I moved to Millington, TN four years ago and are ready to start my last chapter with raising chickens (hopefully it will be a very long chapter). We can't wait to move back to a rural area and get started. We have decided to get Dominiques, and have joined the Dominique Club of America.
Anyway, hello to everyone, and thanks again to BYC for providing this wonderful site.

P.S. We are also fans of the Memphis Grizzlies, and for some odd reason the only pic I had for the avatar thingy was of Father Pat from the movie "Semi-Pro".

Welcome and hello from another Grizz fan! Grit & grind has a special meaning for us Memphians. Good luck with the new place and the Doms. I have Speckled Sussex that I love dearly. The fowl show is next weekend at the Delta Fair. Lots of fun!

Thanks! My wife and I thought we had missed it. We went to the fair in Germantown on Saturday and there was only about a dozen birds being shown. Looks like we have another fair to go to!
