Greetings from the west coast,
I started obsessing over BYC about 8 years ago, learning as much as I could, but only virtually (since I did not have a flock of my own). Then, after a couple years I stopped visiting BYC, believing that my virtual chick fever must stop, because my spouse had indicated an unwillingness to heed the call (cluck?) of my online poultry addiction.
Flash forward to halfway through stuck-at-home time during a global pandemic, and I played the oldest trick in the book - I had the kids ask him! He said yes!
When our small flock of 5 Marans chicks arrives in two weeks, they will be spoiled and adored. And our IRL chicken learning will finally begin! In the mean time, I have hugely appreciated the wealth of experience and wisdom available here at BYC. I know this community will continue to be an excellent resource for the health and well being of our chickens as we excitedly peck our way through the daily adventures of beginner flock keeping.
