I deeply appreciate the efforts the mods make on this site to keep it as apolitical as possible. I've seen threads locked, posts deleted and members given timeouts or even banned for stepping over the line and, as much as I dislike seeing people cut off for expressing their opinions, I relish the refuge from all that chatter. Kinda like a Rick's Cafe. I have friends and family of every nation, tongue and tribe and, in spite of my own very strongly held beliefs (or maybe in part because of my very strongly held beliefs), I respect, love and cherish each of them for who they are, not for which politician they vote for. Nothing as insignificant as "my guy is better than your guy" can be allowed to separate us; not as a family, not as a clan, not as a tribe and not as a country.

Thanks, BYC bosses! Keep up the great work!

I bite my tongue with some frequency, and admit some small pleasure when the BYC mods step in and curate a post that goes over the line (Even when its mine). I've found them consistent - and while I might quibble a bit on where to draw the line (its an exercise in line drawing,t here will never be complete agreement) - that consistency is something I appreciate. It is indicator of considerable effort behind the scenes to have the mods all on the "same page".

I do agree. However, I view it as a blessing and curse. The blessing being that the focus is on poultry/livestock/pets/some social. The curse being I can't rant and rave (cry on the shoulders) to my new "imaginary" friends. I'll take the blessing part and be content with writing things and deleting before posting.

You can always PM your chicken buddies and go offline. I've done that with a few folks on other sites, and a couple of people have graduated from imaginary friends to IRL friends.

I am also a firm believer that tone gets lost when you can't see expressions and hear inflections, leading to bent feelings. House rules here on BYC means certain subjects won't be avenues for misunderstandings, and I'm mentally better for it.
