I am one half of the parents of a small flock of Runner Ducks that we keep in our back yard. Seven of them came to us from ebay in the form of eggs and six females followed from a hatchery to even out the odds that the incubator stacked against the girls. Unfortunately a few weeks ago a Fox or the Horned Oul abducted two of the girls. So we are down to eleven
. I have also begun to incubate and hatch some of the eggs for placement with nice homes which mom ensures. Being a novice at this I find that hatching is a difficult business and I know I have much to learn about hatching and keeping our flock. We have a pond in the yard which is enclosed with a 5 foot fence and aviary netting to keep the hawk out. These ducks are so amusing to watch and make great outdoor pets. Thanks for including me and welcoming us.
