Thank you for having me! My name is Alyssa, I'm new to this chicken life, and I can't wait to start! I have my first flock of 6 female and 1 male buff orpington. I have a 1 and a half year old also that will be helping me raise the chicks. Any tips on advice on ANYTHING would be amazing, and greatly appreciated! Starting from scratch so my knowledge is slim pickins haha!!

I agree with @janiedoe. Use extreme caution with the cockerel and your son. Newbies often think their cockerels are starting off "so nice" then when the hormones hit, the real personality emerges and you have a little feathered, taloned terror on your hands.
