We DEFINITELY need any and all help to get our chicken hatching up to par. We are very new and I've had a couple hatch to just for in a couple days, one is in the brooder now and hoping the one in the bator will make it. It just crushes me when one dies

. I have a duck during on her eggs also and one that was hatching was fine then I went to check later and she had smothered him

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Sorry that your hatching has not gone according to plan :hugs Incubating and hatching can be trial and error at first untill you get the knack of things. I know this certainly happened to me when I first began incubating. The learning centre has a fab section on incubating, here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-and-raising-chicks
I would especially recommend the "Hatching eggs 101" article. It is my bible when it comes hatching.
You can drop the incubating and hatching section of the forum for all your questions ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/5/incubating-amp-hatching-eggs

Wishing you the very best of luck and I hope your chick in the incubator makes it :fl

I'm sorry you've had trouble with hatching. Yorkshire coop has given you some good information, hope that helps.

Thanks for joining us and good luck with future hatches.

. Needless to say I've had very little sleep from being so worried and checking on her several times to make sure she was still moist (which I did use Neosporin that I read about on here) and followed as much other info that I could. I just now, finally just broke down and carefully worked off small pieces of shell. The membrane is extremely tough and rubbery. There was a string like piece that was cutting across her face so I carefully worked it off and just gently help ease that super tough membrane about a 1/3 of the way down from her head and wing area. Very weak but she did move around enough to come out almost all the way and I noticed a very small amount of possible yoke sac so I gave her a few drops of water and put her back in the bator to stay warm and hopefully complete her journey. Holding my breath!! Thank you for your comment.....I appreciate it very much
