Krickette
In the Brooder
Hi! My name is Krickette (pronounced Cricket), thanks for adding me to this group.
I've had chickens for years. I grew up on a farm and we had them when I was a child, then after I married and we had the land, I knew I wanted to farm again and have my own flock.
At this time I have over 60 chickens of different breeds. My newest breeds are Jersey Giants and Buff Cochins. The rest of my chickens are Heniz 57. I also have ducks, Cayuga, Ancona and Rouen. And a couple months ago I added 3 Toulouse Geese and 20 quail. I think I am all done collecting birds for a while. I am currently teaching myself about growing fodder so that I can reduce my feed bill, and am planning to start growing meal worms. I also have cows, Jersey and Charolais and an Arabian horse named Spex because of his fly speck pattern. I rescued him and another horse after they had been starved and abused and then dumped on one of the more remote areas on our property. I have one daughter who is in her second year of college and my hubby and I take care of his 91 year old grandfather who lives with us. I am an avid gardener both flowers and vegetable and have been teaching myself about propagating and want to learn how to graft as well.
