I live in a small town about an hour West of Nashville, TN. We have 24 black Australorps and 10 white Leghorns. My 10 yr old son, Caleb, got his 4H chicks 10 weeks ago. They are the black Australorps. He received 25 but one didnāt make it through the night. It was drooling very bad when we picked them up. About 4 weeks ago, my dad got my son the white Leghorns. They are about 5 weeks old now based on what the guy at TSC said. My bonus son and bonus daughter had 4H chickens (50 black sex link) about 9 years ago but we havenāt had any in about 6 years. I didnāt know anything about raising chickens back then and donāt know much more now lol. I love watching my son hang out with his girls. We call him the Chicken Whisperer.
Our family consists of myself, my husband, our 10 yr old, my 20 yr old bonus son who will be starting his 3rd year of college this fall, and my 19 yr old bonus daughter that will be having our first grandchild this fall. We canāt wait to meet him.
We also have Piper, a 4 yr old black lab mix who is our 20 yr olds. She loves to duck hunt and is the reason we have to be extra careful if we let the girls out of the run to free range. Winston and Chief are 3 yr old mini Aussies. They are brothers/litter mates. Winston is our daughters but he has seizures so he has stayed at our house. Chief is Calebs. Heidi also belongs to Caleb. She is his 3 yr old German Shepherd Dog. And lastly he has a 7 yr old Calico cat named Trigger. Caleb is our animal lover and all animals love him.
I work 12 hr rotating shifts as a Lab Technician at a chemical plant. I love to read and spend time with my family. Caleb will be racing a Jr Dragster as soon as itās finished being built. My husband and older son race dragsters as well. I found this website on Pinterest. I decided to join because I felt that there would be lots of useful information that I could benefit from.
