A special heartfelt thanks to the Baldessari Clan's Wichita Cabin Coop Design. (And to all the others who have generously posted their ideas here). We copied it and now have a version of our own in Boise. What wonderful ideas you can find here.

Pictures posted on the MY BYC page link to the left.

Here's a picture of the finished product, though.

Run dimensions are 5 x 10. Internal coop dimensions are about 5 x 3.5.

Five chickens. All of which are still in the brooder at the moment.

This is a project that my daughter and I are "in charge of." My wife's non-involvement in daily cleaning and maintenance being part of the agreement to have chickens when my daughter asked her for the 35th time. I thought that was a pretty slick answer and you can bet I'll remember it next time my daughter asks ME for something first.

In vancouver we have to have 4 square feet/bird (city bylaw). Did you take into account the sq ftg of the nesting boxes?

It's really pretty you did a very nice job

Good point. Actually, the internal dimensions of the box are closer to 4 x 5 (46 by 60 inches). And, no, the nest boxes aren't included in that calculation. So, the area within the coop is extremely close to 4 square feet/bird. And yeah, that was intentional. I really don't want em picking on each other due to a lack of shoulder room.
