My chickens keep pecking the plastic coating off of our lawn chairs and eating it. Is this going to hurt them?

It should not hurt the birds, no. Neither will it benefit them. Yes, time to retire those in favor of new chairs, or sew heavy canvas duck to the frames intead.

and I clicked on this post thinking your chickens were going after the droppings of one of your other pets (dog, typically). That's probably better for them then the waterproofing on your chairs. It has at least *some* nutritional value.
