So I picked up a stray cat a week ago. BTW if your close by...sweet male cat free to good home. Anywho, DH and I were watching a movie and I was really into it and didn't bother to take my eyes off the tv when I heard *cheep cheep*. Then I hear a noise and *cheeeeep cheep cheep cheep cheeeeep* at which point I looked and the stray cat was IN the brooder. My first reaction was OMG OMG OMG OMG and my husband was like "Whats wrong?" "CAT! In the BOX!" So I rush into the other room and the cat was just kinda there, chilling. I take the lid off and remove the cat. Amazingly, when I didn inventory not one was hurt. Everyone had run to the cormer and clammored behind the gal. waterer and the cat never went after the birds. Just introducing himself.

But now I keep the door shut.

awwwww, he was just saying "hi". My cats are like that with my chicks and chickens. Some just like chilling out with them. I think the chickens have the last say!!!

I didnt think about the warmth thing. But he sure loves to sleep on the bator. My DH says he is waiting for them to hatch so he can have fresh chicken (hes morbid)

My DH is just as bad! Says the same thing when the cats are eye-balling the bator.

One time we didn't put the lid on the brooder and walked out of the room for a few minutes, when we got back Callie was sitting next to it GLARING at us! It was very funny, getting scolded by the cat for not protecting the babies from her.

You can see her snuzzling one in my avatar...

Our cat follows our chickens around and sleeps next to their pen. But he has never hurt a one. We keep him outside and like it because he has been known to chase away other critters....just a thought.

Mine love to sleep on top of the brooder when the heat lamp is on. With the lamp on I am almost guaranteed to have at least two kitties asleep on top. Silly kitties!
