Buy eggs, an incubator and hatch what I want myself; or even utilize a broody hen to do the work naturally. We are nearing our limit but there is a breed or two that I definitely want and that may be the way to go! :bun

Keep in mind your rooster ratio will increase that way. You will need a rooster disposal plan whether it's culling, selling or giving away. I am hatching under a broody right now which I haven't done before. Not sure how many eggs will hatch and how many will be cockerels so its on my mind right now too

I have considered this but like the above comment, Roosters. Not that I wouldnt try to find a way to keep some, keeping all would possibly do more harm than good. My luck would be I would get all Roos. If I’m lucky, I might get one Hen out of it 😂

I am sure hubby will cull when necessary. Now he is about the business of learning how native Americans preserved meat (can you say pemmican)? We want to somehow stop using the deep freezer.
