Being a new chicken raiser, I bought from TS and ended up with more than half cockrells and 4 pullets I don't want for eggs, so I culled them into a temporary run of 3 ft cage wire topped with poultry net and a tarp at one end for protection. It quickly was stripped bare and stank. Son wanted meat and is willing to harvest when ready, so he built this ark to house them until then. Unfortunately it is a bit heavy for me to move alone and he lives 4 hours away, so I think we will have to add wheels at least on one end eventually. Today I put the cedar post on the left under the front edge and pulled the tractor across it. The chickies weren't happy about that, but they seem to like having new grass every day. I had a 5 gal waterer in there, but I can't lift it in and out to move the tractor, so I moved the 1 gal one from the girls cook and gave them the big one. Win/win, I think.

It took a couple of days to build, but the only materials we had to buy were hardware clothe, hinges and handles, the rest is leftovers from building our log home. We did some creative ripping of beams and logs to get the lumber, leftover roofing and flashing. Now to find some wheels on freecycle and we are set to raise a few meat birds twice a year for him.
