the best all round breed is.. new hamp red (or french maran)

I have a few of each of the breeds you mention. You get more eggs than I do out of my
French Black Copper Marans.

My NHRs are a little pecky toward other breeds, loving to rule the roost, but they are
lovely to me and follow me around and allow me to pick them up. I didn't teach
them that because usually they are with a different breed cock who doesn't let me
pick them up.

My 11-month-old FBCM hen, just went broody, which is a plus to me, but might also
be a factor in a "best chicken breed ever" contest.

Yes, NHR is my favorite overall for egg production and meat, too. They are easy to
work with. Even my cocks have been fairly helpful. I got mine from Cackle if anyone
else cares.

Surely, NHR would be a great contender for the best chicken breed ever.

I love my NH. They are 3 y/o and still going strong. They don't stay on the nest for me like my WPR do, but they are so sweet and funny. They get my vote too, with WPR as my second choice.

Just don't tell my BOs and BRs!!
