It's been nearly ten years since I have had some buff colored birds in my coops. Wow, I have forgotten how pretty this color is!
I picked my quad of buff leghorns up from Dan Honour while at the NEPC show this past weekend. If you don't know who Dan is, well, he is Mr. Buff. I think there are many people on the poultry world who would agree Dan is the go-to guy to learn about buff poultry genetics. I not only bought some birds from him but also was VERY priveleged to get a personal lesson on buff breeding and genetics. Dan spent the time walking the show hall with me discussing the color buff and how best to proceded with my new stock. Here's a few pics of the birds and THANKS Dan!
Buff leghorn cockerel looking out the door of his new coop, he's got a bit of frost bite.
The pullets and cockerel still need to do some growing and filling out but I expect plenty of eggs soon. They are a bit shy yet but not flighty at all.
