I wanted to post some photos of my adorable flock to people who care about and love chickens! My flock is 16.5-17 weeks old (no eggs yet!), and my coop is called The Burrow!

Yesterday I sat in the run for a bit with them, and ended up falling asleep sitting up in a chair with a chicken in the nook of each arm! It was ridiculous, but also just so calming and peaceful. I can’t believe how warm they are! (I had a gruesome accident while running in the mountains and the combination of mild painkillers and my body trying to heal while on my feet at work has left me exhausted by the end of the day- tired enough to accidentally fall asleep with chickens lol).

Here are my chickens!

Stella is soooo cuddly, she will literally stretch her neck and burrow her head into me to sleep. I can’t get over how much she trusts me. Annette was the other one who was laying in the nook of my arm to sleep, with her neck stretched out and head resting on my arm.

The other day I also hung a treat basket and I have been putting in any lettuce heads that have bolted in the garden. I typically only give treats (usually fruit, veggies) every 3-4 days. They love it!

Thats all for now! Thanks for reading about my chickens! I love them so much.

@Perris Thank you! I am not sure if that is a normal thing or not? Stella is the only one that will literally burrow her face into me like that. It wasn't at all cold either, very pleasant temperature!

Rosie is a light brahma, Ginny is a rhode island red, Bonnie is a barred rock, Annette is a mottled houdan, and Stella is a buff orpington!

@BleuSaphir Thanks! We went for some higher egg layers, and then a couple of fun ones (the houdan and brahma). We are going to (try to) wait 2-3 years until our next batch of chicks, but I'm already picking out what I would like next! I'm leaning toward easter eggers, but my husband wants to choose more for cool looking chickens rather than egg color (he really wants one of the varieties of wyandotte, and I also have heard great things about speckled sussex).

If all goes to plan we will have a long time before choosing :)

Easter Eggers ARE cool looking, especially since you never know what you’re going to get, color-wise! (But the Wyandotte’s and Sussex are definitely gorgeous!
