So, I knew from the start that getting on this forum would probably induce an addiction on some level. But now I can admit that it has only served to further what had been building for a while! It seems every time I go on Pinterest or into a feed store I have to hold myself back from either going down a rabbit hole of articles on different breeds or purchases a whole coop worth of chicks!
Recently we bought two Silkie pullets and three straight run Silkie chicks. I had already gotten four Blue Plymouths at Tractor Supply and we had one out of five eggs hatch in our small incubator. My husband was getting tired of having the brooder box in the house so I put all the clicks in a cat carrier with the smaller of the two pullets(she seemed less flighty and more gentle tempered than the other one) We lost two of the Silkie chicks, but soon got four others, 2 golden and 2 black Star sexlinks. And you know what? The Silkie pullets has become a really great little teen mom! I am very pleased with her. In a week or two I will start letting them have supervised yard time. We have not named any of them yet. Anyone have suggestions?
