I have 6 Guineas and they're grown. Some are female. Some are male. But there's not an egg to be found anywhere. I searched my whole yard! The only place I haven't gone is under my house. I looked up under there and didn't see anything. Is there any reason why my Guineas would decide "Nope, I ain't gonna lay."? Anybody else have this problem?

Where do you live and how old are your guineas? My 3 hens and 5 male guineas are 6 mos. old. I'm in Alabama. I've also seen no eggs yet, but I understand that they may not start laying for a few more weeks.

Takes at least a yr old before they reproduce, and in many areas it's still too cold or early. I wouldnt expect anything from them until maybe april if they're old enough.

I am in NE Florida and just got my first guinea egg today. I have 1 hen and 2 males that were given to me about 6 weeks ago. They were hatched last spring so are just about a year old. I have had the hen penned up since she started taking off nest hunting. She is in a dog run and although I did give her options to use for nesting she choose to drop her egg in the dirt in the middle of the run. I gave her a nesting box, the bottom of a pet carrier, leaned a piece of plywood against the chainlink over the nest, and put the egg in it. I am hoping that she gets the idea. Oh, also she did lay in the late afternoon, which was the same time of day that she would wonder off looking for nesting spots.

Thank you for your responses to guinea egg question. We haven't had them quite a year yet, so maybe that's why.

We have a lavender and we have a french guinea. They were raised together almost from birth. They hunted together for a long time, but one the french guinea left the lavender to join our 4 older french guineas. Now the lavender travels with a red silkie rooster. The french one is officially part of the older gang. Why would our lavender be left alone?

I've heard that french guineas do not reproduce naturally. This spring everybody broke off into pairs. They're starting to gang back up but they were definately split up for a while. What are we supposed to expect when this happens. Will they stay paired up?
