Can someone please explain the differences between golden and red golden pheasant? What I research online is showing me what looks like the same bird.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Looks like Red Golden and Golden mean the same bird. Google pics of Yellow Golden and it will show the yellow version. They are all lovely birds!!
 
Golden pheasant is the name of the species, but since a number of color morphs have been produced, the normal(wild) form is called the red golden pheasant.
 
Golden is the type of pheasant but since there are so many color varieties of the golden and because alot of new folks start with it they tend to call it red golden.
