My blue cochin just laid her first egg today. And talk about lazy. She laid it right by the hanging feeder!

I almost stepped on it! 12 nesting boxes and she decides to lay while she eats!!

well you know laying eggs takes alot of energy so maybe she was just being smart LOL

Yes, they do need energy to lay. I say let's hook her up to her cell phone re-charger. That will take care of two things at once - something that obviously appeals to her.

Mine were doing the same thing until I put fake eggs in there. Have you tried that, I only had one fake egg and they are fighting to lay in the one nest box and I have two.

We just put golf balls in our nest and the girls go right in there to them.
