So I got some chicks three weeks ago and one of them grew super fast. Really really fast, by two weeks old she was three times the size of the rest of them. 4 times the size of my little runt. I named her Bertha. Well, come to find out Bertha is a turkey. Yep! I somehow was sent a turkey.
I am not the kind of person who is in this for the meat. I will have a chicken retirement home here because there is no way I will be killing any birds. So I dont think I can keep Bertha here. I think I need to find a home for Bertha. Unfortunately, my little runt thinks Bertha is her Mama. Whenever I seperate them she freaks out. They eat together, Sleep together. Should I try to keep Bertha or find a home that will take both of them or will the little one just adjust? Oh the drama being a chicken mama!

Oh my goodness. I can't even imagine getting a surprise turkey!

Any way you could keep it? I thought there were some issues with keeping them together, though, due to varying disease susceptibility? I think I'd be googling/BYC-searching turkey care right about now. Can you keep a solitary one?

I cannot believe they made that mixup. Wow. Where did you get them from?

I got them from a special order at a feed store. I picked them up the same day that they were shipped in. I dont know how it happened. My little runt (Darla) is so sweet with the turkey it will be hard to separate them. But I can't imagine that I can keep her much longer with my chicks. She is enornous!

Keep her she will think she is a chicken and you dont have to eat turkey's you can keep them as pets. I think it should be fun. You were ment to have her she was ment to be with you . You dont hear of to many "acidently turkeys" on here so who are you to argue with fate
